This section explains SVO cards in Cisco NCS 2000 shelves. Use it to understand the card role, supported shelf slots, pluggables, and management features.
An SVO card is a two-slot Shelf Virtualization Orchestrator card that
-
improves management and control of multichassis Cisco NCS 2000 solutions,
-
extends Cisco Optical Site Manager with topology-aware virtualization, and
-
supports high availability by connecting two SFP+ 10GE optics back-to-back with another SVO card.
In this chapter, SVO refers to the NCS2K-SVO-K9 card. Cisco Optical Site Manager extends the Network Services Orchestrator application by using network topology-aware virtualization to improve management of Cisco NCS 2000 devices through alarms, status, and connection verification.
You can configure the SVO card in Geo HA mode, where two SVO-LCs are installed in separate Cisco NCS 2000 nodes to maintain redundancy if one node fails.
The SVO card has a 12-core 2 GHz Intel Xeon processor, 64 GB DDR4 RAM, 240 GB SSD, four SFP+ ports, five 1GE copper ports for external switch connectivity, two USB 3.0 ports, an Ethernet management port, and a console port.
-
On the Cisco NCS 2015 shelf, install SVO cards in slots 2 to 15.
-
On the Cisco NCS 2006 shelf, install SVO cards in slots 2 to 6.
-
On the Cisco ONS 15454 M6 shelf, install SVO cards in slots 2 to 6.

The SVO card provides these features:
-
Runs in complete redundancy mode with another standby SVO card.
-
Provides self-monitored hardware status with onboard logging.
-
Provides virtualization of nodes in a network.
