UDC port bring-up

Use this procedure to connect the supported User Data Channel (UDC) ports between NCS 1010 nodes and verify their operational status.

Bring up the UDC connection between the node and its peer. UDC ports are enabled automatically when the system starts; no separate IOS XR UDC provisioning is required.

Use the port mapping for the node type and connect the UDC port to the corresponding peer line port.

Supported UDC pluggables

  • ONS-SI-GE-LX=

  • ONS-SC-PTP-1510

For details about the UDC throughput with IPv4 traffic, see Table 2.

Follow these steps to bring up the UDC connection between the node and its peer:

Procedure

  1. Identify the UDC port and peer line port for the node type.

    Example:

    Table 1. UDC port mapping

    Node

    UDC port

    Peer line port

    IOS XR interface

    OLT

    UDC1

    LINE-0

    GigabitEthernet0/0/0/0

    ILA

    UDC0

    LINE-0

    GigabitEthernet0/0/0/0

    ILA

    UDC1

    LINE-2

    GigabitEthernet0/0/0/2

  2. Insert a supported UDC pluggable into the identified UDC port.

  3. Connect the UDC port to the corresponding peer line port.

The UDC ports are connected to the appropriate peer line ports and are ready to carry UDC traffic.

What to do next

  1. Verify the UDC port mapping and operational state using the show controller switch summary command.
    RP/0/RP0/CPU0:ios#show controller switch summary
  2. Verify UDC traffic after an upgrade or downgrade, see Verify UDC port traffic statistics.
