Configures HSRP interface and group profiles and their associated policies on leaf switches by using the Cisco APIC GUI for virtual IP redundancy.

Configure HSRP under a logical interface profile in a Layer 3 Out.

Before you begin

  • Configure the tenant and VRF.

  • Configure a VLAN pool with the required VLAN range. Create a Layer 3 domain, and associate it with the VLAN pool.

  • Associate the Attach Entity Profile with the Layer 3 domain.

  • Configure the interface profile for the leaf switches.

Procedure

  1. From the menu bar, choose Tenants > tenant_name . In the Navigation pane, choose Networking > L3Outs > L3Out_name > Logical Node Profiles > Logical Interface Profile .

  2. Select a logical interface profile, and then click Create HSRP Interface Profile.

  3. In the Create HSRP Interface Profile dialog box, configure the interface policy:

    1. From the Version field, select the HSRP version.
    2. From the HSRP Interface Policy list, choose Create HSRP Interface Policy.
    3. In the Create HSRP Interface Policy dialog box, enter a policy name in the Name field.
    4. From the Control field, select the control option.
    5. Set the Delay and Reload Delay values, and then click Submit.

    The HSRP interface policy is created and associated with the interface profile.

  4. In the Create HSRP Interface Profile dialog box, expand HSRP Interface Groups.

  5. In the Create HSRP Group Profile dialog box, configure the group profile:

    1. In the Name field, enter an HSRP interface group name.
    2. From the Group ID field, select the group ID.

      The available values depend on the HSRP version that you selected in the interface profile.

    3. In the IP field, enter an IP address.

      The IP address must be in the same subnet as the interface.

    4. In the MAC Address field, enter a MAC address.
      Note

      If you leave this field blank, Cisco APIC calculates the HSRP virtual MAC address from the group ID.

    5. In the Group Name field, enter a group name.

      HSRP uses this name for the multiple group optimization (MGO) feature.

    6. From the Group Type field, select the group type.
    7. From the IP Obtain Mode field, select the mode.
    8. From the HSRP Group Policy list, choose Create HSRP Group Policy.

  6. In the Create HSRP Group Policy dialog box, configure the group policy:

    1. In the Name field, enter an HSRP group policy name.
    2. Verify that the Key or Password field is populated.

      The default authentication type is simple, and the default key is cisco.

    3. From the Type field, select the security level.
    4. From the Priority field, select the priority that determines the active and standby routers.
    5. Configure the remaining fields, and then click Submit.

      The HSRP group policy is created.

    6. Add secondary virtual IP addresses in the Secondary Virtual IPs field.

      Use secondary virtual IP addresses to enable HSRP on each subinterface. Each address must be in the same subnet as the interface.

    7. Click OK.

  7. In the Create HSRP Interface Profile dialog box, click Submit.

  8. To verify the HSRP interface and group policies, in the Navigation pane, choose Networking > Protocol Policies > HSRP .

The HSRP interface and group policies are configured and associated with the logical interface profile.
