Module 7: Technical Support Services Portfolio

The Value of SAS and SASU

It is important to educate your customers on the benefits of using the SAS or SASU service programs to support their network application software. These benefits can include:

Saving your customers money by reducing individual time and materials charges associated with purchasing new software releases on an “as-needed” basis.
Reducing your customers’ risk of becoming vulnerable to competitors with more robust network service offerings.
Providing the latest functionality that your customer’s network will need to continue to grow as their business grows.

If necessary, use real-world examples to support each of the benefits above with your customers. Many of your customers may not realize the value of having a SAS or SASU service contract based on:

Lack of awareness of the new and enhanced functionality that can be included in an individual release.
The positive impact that this new functionality can have on the performance of their network software.
Inadequate knowledge of how often their competitors upgrade their software.
Inadequate knowledge or skills because of rapidly changes technologies.
Limited exposure to the breadth of resources available to support them via Cisco.com and Cisco TAC.

For additional information about the specifics within each program please refer back to Module 5: Technology Refresh for further details.
