Module 7: Technical Support Services Portfolio

Interactive Exercise 2

Now that you have finished working with Jack, it is time to continue to your next appointment. You are going to see Catherine Hawkins, an IT Director at the Virtual Networks company. The purpose of your appointment with Catherine is to discuss the renewal of Virtual Networks’ existing SMARTnet contract.

Catherine informs you that it does not look like she will be able to renew her SMARTnet service contract with you due to budget constraints that the company is currently facing.

She makes it a point to let you know that she is still interested in some type of service contract, but is now looking for lower cost alternatives.

How should you respond?

I understand that you are working with a limited budget. How important is network “up-time” going to be to you moving forward? Regarding support for your network, what type of sacrifices are you thinking of making?

Let’s look at your existing service contract and see how we can reduce your costs.

In order for you to protect the investment in your network, it is critical for you to renew your existing contract and continue to receive the services and support your company needs.
