Overview
Provides an end-to-end Routed Optical Networking provisioning example for a two-node DCI topology. It walks through planning, implementation, operation, and optimization activities for replacing a legacy span.
Network sizing requirements
For Cisco Crosswork, see Plan Your Deployment.
For Cisco Optical Network Controller, see Cisco Optical Network Controller 25.1.x Installation Guide.
Sample configuration
This section describes the sample Routed Optical Networking configuration used in the appendix. It explains the topology, 75 km fiber span, deployment phases, and activities required to build and operate the service.
Planning and design phase
This section explains the planning and design activities for the sample deployment. It covers packet demand inputs, optical fiber topology, resiliency criteria, network constraints, ONP feasibility checks, and required component selection.
Implement phase
This section explains the implementation activities required to deploy the sample Routed Optical Networking service. It covers hardware installation, base configuration, device onboarding, adapter setup, SSO, cross-launching, and multilayer service provisioning.
Operate phase
This section explains the operational monitoring activities for the sample deployment. It describes how to monitor ZR or ZR+ optics, NCS 1010 nodes, performance data, alarms, and service health after provisioning.
Optimization phase
This section explains the optimization activities after the sample service is deployed and monitored. It describes how operators return to planning, adjust circuits, and continue matching network resources to packet demands.
