Module 7: Technical Support Services Portfolio

Benefits of SMARTnet

Some of your customers may also not realize the savings they can incur in terms of network ownership when their equipment is covered under a SMARTnet or SMARTnet Onsite service contract. It is important to build a case with your customers that places an emphasis on the value of the software support services available through SMARTnet and SMARTnet Onsite.

As was mentioned in Module 5: Software Support, many customers do not realize that keeping their Cisco IOS Software current with the latest version:

Provides them with a substantial amount of new features and technologies that may not be available within their existing Cisco IOS Software version.
Reduces any risk of becoming vulnerable to competitors with more robust network service offerings.
Saves your customers money and reduces their network operating costs.
Does your customer have spare equipment onsite?

In summary, you can also tell your customers that keeping their Cisco IOS Software up-to-date by accessing the new releases and maintenance upgrades available to them within SMARTnet and SMARTnet Onsite will:

Improve the availability, durability, and performance of their Cisco devices.
Allow their devices to grow in terms of capabilities and performance – at no extra software charge.
Help their Cisco devices experience extended life spans.
