Case Study: IFEMA

IFEMA hosts conference in record time

The United Nations needed a host for its annual COP conference on climate change. IFEMA stepped up and, working with Cisco, pulled off a successful conference in a record 18 days, whereas past conference preparations have taken upward of 18 months.

Summary

Challenges

  • When COP25 had to shift host nations, work that normally takes a year had to happen in weeks
  • Cisco needed to adapt existing infrastructure within UN security protocols.
  • Network lacked the capability the conference needed, and network upgrades had to happen in 18 days

Results

  • Stabilized network infrastructure with full redundancy capabilities restored in record time
  • Wi-Fi recommendations implemented to support extreme conditions and a positive end-user experience
  • Cisco Stealthwatch and Cisco Spaces increased visibility and control
  • Deployed security advisory recommendations and supported change management processes

What they’re saying

It was a huge challenge for IFEMA to accommodate, within such tight schedules, the deployment of this project of international impact. It was a fight against the clock that was only possible thanks to the shared collaboration and responsibility of the teams dedicated to put it into place.
