This new feature is introduced in Cisco Spaces.

Cisco Spaces: IoT Services License Management Enhancement

This release introduces enhanced license management capabilities for IoT Services, enabling more granular control and improved governance at the campus and building levels.

Key features

  • Campus- and Building-Based License Support

IoT Services licenses can now be assigned and managed at the campus or building level. This provides greater flexibility for deployment and scalability.

  • Configuration Restricted Without Valid License

Users cannot configure IoT Services at a campus or building level unless a valid license is assigned to that location.

  • Read-Only Access for Unlicensed Locations

Users have read-only access to campuses and buildings without the required IoT Services license, ensuring visibility while maintaining compliance.

  • Hierarchical License Upgrades per Tenant

Tenants can add higher-tier licenses at the campus or building level within the location hierarchy to unlock additional IoT Services features as needed.

Single Floor Map Release: Digital Maps Just Got Faster, Smarter, and Easier to Manage

This release delivers a significant upgrade to the Digital Maps experience, simplifying the management of buildings, floors, and map processing at scale.

Key features

  • Digital Maps management: Working with your building floor plans is now simpler and more efficient than ever with the redesigned Digital Maps management.

  • Floor-Level Management & Publishing: The new listing screen provides a floor-level view with contextual actions based on each floor’s status—from setting the building address to adding floors, uploading CAD files, and reviewing, editing, or publishing maps

Granular per-floor statuses replace the earlier building-level view, and each floor can be reviewed and published independently on its own schedule.

  • Streamlined Upload with AI Previews: The upload wizard has been simplified to a single step — update floor metadata and upload CAD files for multiple floors in one shot. Level numbers can now be edited during upload. AI-generated previews are typically available within 15 minutes, so you can catch issues early — and cancel processing if needed.

  • Custom Map View Defaults: Set default viewing angles (pitch, bearing, zoom) per floor, or apply consistent settings across all floors in a building.

Partner Firehose Enhancement

This release includes optimizations to the network topology API, reducing response times and improving Cisco Spaces performance, while enhancing overall reliability and efficiency.

Location Service

These enhancements are made in the Location Service Release 3.2.4.42.

  • Enabled TLS 1.3 support for Location NMSP to ensure compatibility with Cisco Catalyst Release 26.x.

  • Enhanced Catalyst controller discovery logic to recognize "CUST_SPECIAL" signatures in the output of the show version command.

  • Implemented a fallback mechanism using Netconf to ensure reliable version identification. Improved logging around Netconf for better troubleshooting.

  • Added a new message type to notify Cisco Spaces of APLocation requests.

IOx Application for IoT Service (Wireless) Version 1.8.x

These enhancements and fixes are available in the IOx Application version 1.8.x:

  • New IOx Application Image

Cisco Catalyst 9800 Series Wireless Controller version 26.1.x introduces AP firmware changes that require an updated image for the 64-bit IOx application.

Upgrade the IOx Application to version 1.8.x on Cisco Catalyst 9800 Series Wireless Controllers that are running version 26.1.x or later.

    Note

IOx Application Version 1.7.x is not supported on Cisco Catalyst 9800 Series Wireless Controllers running version 26.1.x or later and will fail to function.

  • Improved Visibility and Diagnostics

    • Enhances stream configuration progress messaging and payload identification messages for better visibility during setup.

    • Adds support for an exclude list of MAC prefixes, allowing administrators to filter out specific devices from BLE scanning.

    • Introduces priority queue support to manage and buffer requests from Cisco Spaces, ensuring reliable message delivery during high-load conditions.

  • UWB and BLE Support Enhancements

    • Adds support for new UWB tags.

    • Adds fix for firmware upgrade and configuration of third-party vendors using Kontakt firmware.
