CDP provides the following discovery behavior on Cisco NCS 1010.

CDP is a Cisco proprietary Layer 2 protocol used to obtain information about peer Cisco devices.

CDP exchanges packets with neighboring devices to discover their platform type and capabilities.

Each CDP-enabled device sends periodic advertisements to a multicast address and advertises at least one address at which it can receive messages.

The hold-time information indicates how long a receiving device keeps CDP information before discarding it. The default hold time is 180 seconds.

Each device listens to periodic CDP messages every 60 seconds by default to learn about neighboring devices and determine when their interfaces go up or down.
