Description of the Release |
Cisco IOS® Software Release 12.2(14)SY is an ED (XED) release optimized for the Macedon Phase-2 Project. This release is based upon Cisco IOS Software Release 12.2(14)S. This release extends native mode IOS support for the VPN-SM module for the Catalyst 6500 and 7600 family of platforms. Firewall Services Module (FWSM), Intrusion Detection System Module 2 (IDSM2), and Network Analysis Module (NAM) are also supported in this release, but not Cisco Services Module (CSM) and SSL. Any early deployment (ED) release of this software should be used in a test network before being deployed in a production network. |

Target Market |
Cisco Systems, Inc. released Cisco IOS Software Release 12.2(14)SY2 as a short-lived release for the Cisco 6500 and 7600 platforms. It is targeted for customers primarily in the Enterprise space that require the VPNSM module in conjunction with other Service Modules in the same chassis, use with FlexWAN cards, support for Remote Access IPSec, and need for improved GRE performance. All of these have severely hampered use of VPNSM to date on these platforms. | |||||||||||||
