Description of the Release

Cisco IOS® Software Release 12.1 EC is a specific technology early deployment release (STED) optimized for the ubr7200 and future ubr10k support. This release is based (parented) upon 12.1E. The initial release, 12.1(2)EC contains support for all cable features in the 12.1(1)T software release, including (but not limited to):

MC16S
Interface Bundling
DOCSIS 1.0+
DPT (PA-SRP-OC12xxx port adapters)
MPLS-VPN Support over Cable Interfaces.

Cisco Systems, Inc. released Cisco IOS Software Release 12.1EC as an ED release for the Cisco ubr7200 Series Market. Cisco recommends the use of 12.1EC software for Cable Operator and Broadband Service Providers who want to maximize support for the latest functionality within the DOCSIS and IOS features. Also new hardware support can be found in 12.1 EC software releases.
