Early Deployment (ED) Release Summary

Description

 Cisco IOS 11.3(1)DA was released on July 28, 1998, to deliver functionality for the digital subscriber line access multiplexer (DSLAM) Cisco 6200 xDSL platforms. Cisco IOS 11.3(x)DAy is directly based from Cisco IOS 11.3(x). The "y" increases sequentially with each maintenance build. Cisco IOS 11.3(x)DA is not a full-fledged Cisco IOS release. It only takes advantage of Cisco IOS-integrated applications such as Telnet, File Transfer Protocol (FTP), Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP), and Command Line Interface (CLI). The functionality of Cisco IOS 11.3(x)DAy will not follow the standard release policy. It will build releases based on various Cisco IOS 11.3(x) maintenances such as Cisco IOS 11.3(1)DA1 or Cisco IOS 11.3(3)DA1. It will later start building releases based on the Cisco IOS 12.0T or 12.0T base code.

 The early deployment releases based on Cisco IOS 11.3DA generally synchronize with Cisco IOS 11.3 to catch base code bug fixes.

 New features were added to the maintenance releases of Cisco IOS 11.3DA.

Maintenance Releases

 Cisco IOS 11.3(1)DA1 was the first Cisco IOS 11.3(x)DA release. Maintenance releases will be irregular and based on a choice of Cisco IOS 11.3(x) maintenance releases until Cisco IOS 12.0T.

Interim Builds

 Interim builds are not recommended and are not fully tested. Customers will only be provided with interim builds when a critical defect renders the maintenance release unusable.

7-week maintenance cycle: Cisco IOS 11.3 uses a 7-week release model. A maintenance release is delivered once every seven weeks. An interim build is executed once a week.
13-week maintenance cycle: Not applicable

Recommended Migration

 The Cisco 6200 platforms will merge into Cisco IOS 12.0T.

If currently using Cisco IOS 11.3DA, the recommended upgrade path is Cisco IOS 12.0T or 12.0DA.

Year 2000 (Y2K) Compliant

 Cisco IOS 11.3DA is Y2K compliant.

General Deployment (GD) Plan

 Cisco IOS 11.3DA will not achieve GD status.

Life Cycle

 The Cisco 6200 platforms will merge into Cisco IOS 12.0T.
