Description

 Cisco IOS® Software Release 12.0(5)XK is a short-lived ED release introducing several new features and hardware modules on the Cisco 2600, 3600, and MC3810 series routers. These features include:
  • Video over ATM switched virtual circuits (SVCs) and permanent virtual circuits (PVCs) on the Cisco MC3810.
  • Voice over ATM SVCs on the Cisco MC3810.
  • FRF.5 enhancements on the Cisco MC3810.
  • FRF.8 on the Cisco MC3810.
  • Digital T1 packet voice trunk network modules on the Cisco 2600 and 3600 series routers.
  • Multiport T1/E1 ATM network modules with inverse multiplexing over ATM on the Cisco 2600 and 3600 series routers.

 Cisco Systems, Inc. released Cisco IOS Software Release 12.0(5)XK as a short-lived ED release for the Cisco 2600 series, Cisco 3600 series, and Cisco MC3810 Multi-Service Access Concentrator.

 Cisco IOS Software Release 12.0(5)XK is a short-lived release. If needed, subsequent maintenance versions will use the following naming convention: Cisco IOS Software Release 12.0(5)XK1, 12.0(5)XK2, and so on.

Interim Builds

 Cisco IOS Software Release 12.0(5)XK will provide interim builds.

Interim builds are not recommended and are not fully tested. Customers will only be provided with interim builds when a critical defect renders the maintenance release unusable.

 Cisco IOS short-lived ED or X releases do not provide scheduled maintenance releases.

 Features of Cisco IOS Software Release 12.0(4)XK will be ported to Cisco IOS 12.0(6)T.

General Deployment (GD) Plan
