Module 5: Software Support

Cisco IOS Software

Another feature of Cisco IOS Software is Quality of Service (QoS). QoS refers to the ability of a network to provide better service to selected network traffic over various underlying technologies including Frame Relay, Asynchronous Transfer Mode (ATM,) Ethernet and 802.1 networks, Synchronous Optical Network (SONET,) and IP-routed networks that may use any or all of these underlying technologies.

The reason this feature is important to your customer is because these networks transport a multitude of applications and data, including high-quality video and delay-sensitive data such as real-time voice.
