Overview

Describes the steps to clone a Cisco Catalyst 8000V VM in Nutanix AHV hypervisor.

Procedure

1.

Log in to the Prism Central GUI.

2.

In the navigation pane, choose Compute & Storage > VMs.

3.

Perform the Clone action using one of these steps:

  • In the List tab, choose the target VM and then choose Clone from the Actions drop-down menu.

  • In the List tab, right-click the target VM and select Clone from the drop-down list.

Click Clone in the Summary page of an individual VM.

The system displays the Clone VM window, which includes the same fields as the Create VM window.

5.

For the clone VM, configure these settings:

  1. Enter a unique Name for the cloned VM.

  2. Verify and select the appropriate Project.

  3. Select the target Cluster.

  4. Specify the Number of Clusters.

  5. Under Guest Customization, select the customization method if required.

6.

Click Next.

7.

Review the settings, and click Create/Clone.

Note

If the source VM uses static IP addressing, ensure you update the Network Settings after cloning to prevent IP conflicts.


Verify VM template cloning

Take these actions to verify whether the VM cloning in Nutanix AHV hypervisor succeeded.

Procedure

1.

Click the Activity/Tasks (bell icon) in the top-right corner.

2.

Verify whether the task status displays Succeeded.

3.

After the cloning is successful, check the power status of the VM. The VM should be powered on.

4.

Optionally, update the hostname and the IP address of the VM. Then, confirm the network connectivity status.
