This task specifies the high-level steps to setup secure boot in ESXi environment.

Procedure

1.

Create VM using ESXi 6.5 or later version using VM version 13 through 19. To choose the EFI firmware mode, navigate to VM Options > Boot Options > Firmware > EFI.

Note

If you require VM version greater than 19, first boot the C8000V with secure boot using ESXi version 19 or earlier. After the router boots successfully, use vCenter to upgrade the VM compatibility to the required version.

2.

Power down the VM after the initial boot and the IOS prompt is complete.

3.

Enable the EFI secure boot by navigating to Edit Settings > VM Options > Boot Options > Secure Boot.

4.

Power up the VM.

You cannot modify the firmware mode (from BIOS to EFI or vice versa) after you create the VM.

The VNF boots up securely.
