Endpoint tracker

The Endpoint Tracker locates fabric-attached endpoints by IP or MAC address and displays their location, policy-group membership, encapsulation, and transition history.

The Endpoint Tracker is a troubleshooting tool for locating endpoints learned by the Cisco ACI fabric.

  • Searches for an endpoint by its IP or MAC address.

  • Displays endpoint group membership and virtual LAN (VLAN) encapsulation.

  • Displays endpoint transition, or flap, history with the date, time, action, node, interface, and encapsulation for each event.

ESG endpoint entries

The Endpoint Tracker uses the fvCEp managed object to identify endpoints learned in the fabric for endpoint groups (EPGs) and endpoint security groups (ESGs).

An endpoint assigned to an ESG is represented by two fvCEp objects:

  • An EPG object that represents the VLAN binding

  • An ESG object that represents the security classification

Therefore, the Endpoint Tracker displays two entries for an endpoint assigned to an ESG.

Locate an endpoint

On the menu bar, choose Operations > EP Tracker . Enter the endpoint IP or MAC address in the End Point Search field, click Search, and select an endpoint from the results to view its details.
