CSCuz33501 | IMDB replication fails to start on a subscriber node after the publisher node is powered off and on. |
Cisco Unified Communications Manager IM & Presence in-memory database (IMDB) replication fails to start on a server in a subcluster when a peer node is powered off and brought back online. When IMDB replication fails, end users are unable to log in and/or experience presence related issues on their endpoints.
Cisco has found that the IMDB replication service on a Cisco Unified Communications Manager IM & Presence subscriber node fails to start when a Cisco Unified Communications Manager IM & Presence publisher node is powered off and powered on again.
End users might start to face login and IM & Presence related issues. Due to IMDB replication queue build up, it might cause the memory buffer to fill up over a period of time which results in performance issues on the server.
In order to verify IMDB replication has failed, enter the command utils imdb replication status in the CLI for Cisco Unified Communications Solutions.
For example:
admin:utils imdb_replication status
Running IMDB DSN (ttsoft, ttlogin, ttreg) replication checks on all nodes in cluster ...
NOTE: For diagnostic test to run, ports 6603, 6604 & 6605 must be open on any firewalls between IM&P Servers

FAILED :: IMDB DSN Replication is suspect on some/all nodes within the cluster
Workaround
Customers can perform these steps in order to restore IMDB replication as a workaround until the cluster is upgraded with the fixed version.
1. Disable High Availability (HA) for the IMP sub-cluster.
Log in to Cisco Unified CM Administration > System > Presence Redundancy Group. Uncheck the HA check box.
2. Log in to the CLI and enter these commands.
a. Stop Cisco Presence Engine on all IM & Presence nodes.
utils service stop Cisco Presence Engine
b. Verify all the Datastore Services run: Cisco Login Datastore, Cisco Route Datastore, Cisco Presence Datastore, and Cisco SIP Registration Datastore.
utils service list
c. Restart the Cisco Config Agent on each IM & Presence node one at a time.
utils service restart Cisco Config Agent
d. Start Cisco Presence Engine.
utils service start Cisco Presence Engine
3. Enable HA for the IM & Presence subcluster.
Log in to Cisco Unified CM Administration > System > Presence Redundancy Group. Check the HA check box.
Solution
Cisco recommends that you upgrade all nodes in the cluster to Cisco Unified Communications Manager IM & Presence Service Version 10.5(2)SU3 or later. See the Cisco Unified Communications Manager IM and Presence Service Version 10.5(X) Download Software page (Cisco.com login required).
