Bias-Free Language

The documentation set for this product strives to use bias-free language. For the purposes of this documentation set, bias-free is defined as language that does not imply discrimination based on age, disability, gender, racial identity, ethnic identity, sexual orientation, socioeconomic status, and intersectionality. Exceptions may be present in the documentation due to language that is hardcoded in the user interfaces of the product software, language used based on RFP documentation, or language that is used by a referenced third-party product. Device Discovery and Inventory

Network device discovery and inventory is enabled through the Cisco Network Collector (CNC), a Java-based tool supported on Windows 2000 Pro, Windows XP, Windows 2003 and Solaris platforms. CNC tracks all network elements either through a device discovery or by a seed file import. The collected and/or inventoried data from your network is securely transported back to Cisco by the Transport Gateway.

Note Please refer to the CNC User Guide for step-by-step instructions on how to perform a device discovery and inventory. Go to the CNC Home page to select the correct version User Guide.

CNC will need to be installed by Cisco. If this installation has not yet taken place, please send a request to ir-support@cisco.com.

Note The Upload Inventory check box must be selected in order for the Transport Gateway to detect when a new inventory is available in order to automatically send this information to Cisco.
