Dear Cisco Customer,

Please review the Software Advisory notice here to determine if the issues apply to your environment. You may proceed to download this software if you have no concerns with the issue described.
For more comprehensive information about what is included in this software, refer to the Cisco software Release Notes, available from the Product Selector tool. From this page, select the product you are interested in. Release Notes are under "General Information" on the product page.
Reason for Advisory:
VMware has introduced a new embedded version of OpenSSH in ESXi 6.7 U3 P04 (build 17167734) and later that breaks compatibility with Cisco HyperFlex Data Platform software versions 3.5(2x) and 4.0(2a) through 4.0(2d).
Cisco has released ESXi 6.7 U3 P04 (build 17167734) install (ISO) and upgrade (ZIP) bundles for use with HXDP 4.5(1a) and later HyperFlex clusters. Do not use these bundles with earlier HyperFlex releases.
Cisco has released ESXi 6.7 U3 EP18 (build 17499825) install (ISO) and upgrade (ZIP) bundles for use with HXDP 4.0(2e) and later HyperFlex clusters. Do not use these bundles with earlier HyperFlex releases.
Affected Hardware Platforms:
All HyperFlex platforms running HXDP software versions 3.5(2x) and 4.0(2a) through 4.0(2d).
Symptom:
Attempting to upgrade to this version of ESXi will fail via HX Connect. ESXi rollback should be used to return to the previous version. If an upgrade to this version is attempted outside of HX Connect, all hosts should be rolled back to restore HyperFlex functionality. High impact areas include: fresh installation, upgrade, cluster reregistration, and the HX Connect UI.
Conditions:
Combination of running ESXi 6.7 U3 P04 or later (build 17167734) with HXDP 3.5(2x) or 4.0(2a) through 4.0(2d). Note: this issue is resolved in 4.0(2e) and later releases.
Workaround:
See the SSH Incompatibility with ESXi 6.7P04 (build 17167734) tech note.
More Information:
This issue only impacts 3.5(2x) and 4.0(2a) through 4.0(2d) HXDP software versions. HyperFlex Data Platform version 4.0(2e) & 4.5(1a) and later are not impacted by this issue. If ESXi 6.7P04 or later is required in your environment, first upgrade to a compatible HXDP release before upgrading ESXi or perform a combined upgrade of ESXi + HXDP to a compatible version. Do not upgrade ESXi alone to an impacted version while on HXDP 3.5(2x) or 4.0(2a) through 4.0(2d).
