How CV SRA Plus remote access works

Want to summarize with AI?

Describes how administrators configure CV SRA Plus access and how users install the app, connect to a remote session, and use native applications to access an OT asset.

CV SRA Plus provides client-based access for sessions that require native engineering or diagnostic applications, large file transfers, or other capabilities beyond a browser-based session.

The process requires an administrator to configure a CV SRA Plus access method and assign the appropriate users and assets before a user can connect.

Summary

The following actors and components participate in the CV SRA Plus remote access process:

  • SRA System Admin or another authorized administrator: Configures the access method, access group, asset, and user permissions.

  • SRA Plus App: Establishes the client-based connection that enables native applications to access the remote asset.

  • Remote access user: Installs the app, connects to an available session, and performs authorized work on the asset.

Workflow

These stages describe how CV SRA Plus remote access becomes available and how a user connects:

  1. An authorized administrator adds the asset and configures a CV SRA Plus access method with the required protocol and port settings.

  2. The administrator assigns the asset and the remote access user to an access control group that permits the user to access the session.

  3. The remote access user meets the CV SRA Plus prerequisites and installs the CV SRA Plus App.

  4. The user opens Cyber Vision SRA > Remote Sessions and locates the assigned asset.

    • For request-based access, the user submits a request and waits for an authorized approver to approve it.

    • For scheduled access, the user waits until the session is available within its scheduled time window.

  5. When the session is available, the user selects Connect. The CV SRA Plus App establishes the configured connection and enables the user to use the supported native application or engineering tool.

  6. The user performs authorized work during the session's permitted access period and ends the session after completing the work.

Result

The user accesses the assigned OT asset through the configured CV SRA Plus method for the permitted session period.

Prerequisites for using CV SRA Plus

Before using the CV SRA Plus App, ensure the following requirements are met.

  • Antivirus configuration: Verify your virus scanner does not block the CV SRA Plus application.

  • Licensing: CV SRA Plus features are premium and require an Advantage license on IoT OD.

  • Feature activation: CV SRA Plus must be activated for your organization on IoT OD. Contact Cisco if you are unsure of your activation status.
