Secure file transfer

Enable secure file transfer to safeguard file exchanges with integrated automatic malware checks.

Secure file transfer is a feature that lets users securely transfer files between CV SRA and remote assets, ensuring that files are scanned for malware before transfer.

  • Available for all user roles, including SRA User roles.

  • Files are uploaded to a staging area on CV SRA and scanned for malware.

  • Malicious files are automatically deleted and cannot be transferred, but their file names remain visible in the Staging Files section.

  • Files identified as potentially unwanted applications are not transferable until approved. Review the scan result in the Staging Files table before deciding whether to approve or reject the file.

For example, when a user uploads a file to the CV SRA staging area, the system scans the file for malware. If the file is clean, it becomes available for transfer during a remote session. If malware is detected, the file is deleted, but its name still appears in the Staging Files section.

Secure file transfer guidelines

Enable secure file transfer only for RDP sessions and ensure the feature is activated during RDP access method configuration.

  • Secure file transfer is available exclusively for RDP sessions.

  • File transfer functionality must be enabled when configuring the RDP access method.

  • Do not upload files larger than 1 GB when using secure file transfer for RDP sessions.

Upload files to the secure file transfer staging area

Add local files to the Secure File Transfer staging area for later transfer to assets.

Use this task to transfer files to or from the staging area and your assets.

Before you begin

  • Ensure you have access to CV SRA.

  • Verify you have the required files located on your local system.

Procedure

  1. Navigate to SRA > Secure File Transfer.

  2. On the Secure File Transfer page, click Upload File , and browse your local system to find and select the file you wish to upload.

  3. After selecting the file, click Open to confirm your choice. The file transfer will begin.

After you initiate the upload, the file is automatically scanned for malware. If a file is malicious, it cannot be transferred or downloaded because the physical file is not stored; only its entry is added to the Staging Files list with the Malware Found status.

Review potentially unwanted files before transfer

After a file is uploaded to the secure file transfer staging area, CV SRA displays its scan status and whether it is transferable. A file identified as a potentially unwanted application (PUA) is not transferable until it is explicitly approved. The Remarks column identifies the detection and provides an approval or rejection action.

An approved PUA file becomes available for transfer during a remote session. A rejected file remains unavailable for transfer. This review does not override the handling of files detected as malware.

Approve or reject staged files identified as potentially unwanted applications before remote-session transfer.

Approve or reject a potentially unwanted file

Decide whether a PUA-flagged file can be transferred during a remote session.

Before you begin

Upload the file and wait until its scan status is Scanned.

Procedure

  1. Choose SRA > Secure File Transfer.

  2. In the Staging Files table, locate the file whose Scan Status is Potential Unwanted Application.

  3. Review the detection in Remarks, and click the approval or rejection link in that column.

  4. Approve the file if it is permitted for transfer, or reject it to keep it unavailable.

  5. Check the Transferable column to verify the resulting status.

Only a file marked Yes is available for transfer during a remote session.

The staging area records the decision and indicates whether the file can be transferred.

Transfer files to assets

Move uploaded files from the CV SRA staging area to assets during a remote session.

Use this task to transfer files to or from remote assets after uploading them to the staging area.

Before you begin

  • Ensure a file is available in the staging area.

  • Verify that an RDP remote session is available.

Procedure

  1. Navigate to SRA > Remote Sessions.

  2. On the Remote Sessions page, click Connect to the RDP session you want to connect to.

  3. Once you are connected, click File Transfer that is located at the bottom of the page.

  4. Use the Secure File Transfer window to move files between the Staging Files and Asset Files sections.

  5. To move files from Staging Files to Asset Files , select files from the Staging Files section and click the left arrow ( < ) to move them to the Asset Files section.

    Note

When you move files from the Asset Files section to the Staging Files section, the files will be automatically scanned for malware before they are available in the Staging Files section.

Upon successful transfer, files sent from CV SRA to remote assets are located in the SRA Drive on IoTOD network drive, and files sent from remote assets to CV SRA are in the Staging Files section.
