Enable efficient replication of CV SRA configurations by copying assets and access methods from a source device to multiple target devices using bulk configuration clones.

A bulk configuration clone is a network automation feature that enables you to efficiently replicate CV SRA configurations by copying assets and access methods from a source device to multiple target devices.

  • Replicates CV SRA configurations from one device to many devices.

  • Copies assets and access methods efficiently across selected targets.

  • Ensures operational consistency by transferring details such as IP addresses, URLs, and credentials.

Requirements and behavior when cloning assets and remote sessions

When performing a bulk configuration clone, consider the following requirements and behaviors:

  • Each asset must include at least one remote session; otherwise, the asset will not be copied during cloning.

  • If a target device already contains a remote session with the same name as a cloned session, the system automatically appends "-copy" (for example, "Ubuntu-Server-copy 1") to the new session name to avoid conflicts.

  • If the remote sessions in the source device are associated with access control groups, the same associations will be made for the cloned remote sessions in the target devices. This means that the users who had access to the remote sessions in the source device will automatically have access to the cloned remote sessions in the target device after cloning.

  • All cloned assets are associated with the target device's management VRF. Their source VRF associations are not preserved, even if matching additional VRFs exist on the target device. Review the asset VRF assignments after cloning.

Suppose you have configured a source device with all required CV SRA assets and remote sessions. Using the bulk configuration clone feature, you can copy these settings to multiple target devices, ensuring consistency and saving time. If a target already has a session with the same name, the system will rename the cloned session to prevent conflicts.

Clone the session configurations

Copy asset and remote session configurations from a source network device to multiple target devices for faster setup and consistent configuration.

Use this task in Cisco IoT Operations Dashboard when you want to replicate CV SRA assets and remote sessions to other devices in your network.

Before you begin

  • Ensure you have SRA System Admin role access.

  • Identify the source network device with the desired configuration.

Procedure

  1. Log in to the Cisco IoT Operations Dashboard as a user with SRA System Admin role.

  2. Choose SRA > System Management.

  3. On the System Management pane, select the network device whose configuration you want to clone, and then select Clone Remote Session Configuration in the Action column.

  4. On the Clone Remote Session Configuration page, select the remote sessions you want to clone, and then click Next .

  5. In the Assign Access Control Group area, choose one of the following options:

    • Add all cloned remote sessions to all the original access control groups - Use this option if you want to keep the cloned remote sessions associated with the original access control groups.

    • Do not add any cloned remote sessions to the original access control groups - Use this option if you do not want to associate the cloned remote sessions with the original access control groups. In this case, you can associate the cloned remote sessions with different access control groups.

  6. Click Next .

  7. In the Choose Target Network Devices area, select the target devices from the list.

The remote sessions and the assets are copied to these devices.

All cloned assets are assigned to each target device's management VRF, regardless of their source VRF. Review the warning before continuing.

  8. Click Done.

You receive a success message indicating that cloning of remote sessions and assets is initiated.

The selected sessions and assets are cloned from the source device to the chosen target devices. You receive a success message indicating that the process has started.

What to do next

Review cloned configurations on each target device and update session details or access control groups if specific values are required.

If assets must use an additional VRF on a target router, edit their VRF associations after cloning.

View cloning history

Review details of all bulk configuration cloning activities performed on the Cisco IoT Operations Dashboard.

Use this task to track and audit session and asset cloning actions, including the source network device, the user who initiated the cloning, the cloned remote sessions, the cloned assets, the target devices, and the date and time of the cloning.

Before you begin

  • Ensure you have SRA System Admin role access.

Procedure

  1. Log in to the Cisco IoT Operations Dashboard as a user with SRA System Admin role.

  2. Choose SRA > System Management.

  3. On the SRA pane, select View Cloning History from the More Actions drop-down list.

  4. To view the cloning history for a specific period, select start and end dates in the box preceding the Search Table.

The cloning history specific to the given period appears. The history may include one or more cloning activities.

  5. To get the details of a specific cloning activity, click the associated job name.

you can view full details of current and past cloning activities, including source device, cloned items, initiating user, target devices, and the date and time of each cloning event.

What to do next

Use the history information to verify cloning activity or troubleshoot configuration changes if needed.

Remove all assets and access methods from network devices

Remove all assets and access methods from one or more network devices in a single action.

Use this task when you need to reset the configuration of selected network devices on the Cisco IoT Operations Dashboard by deleting their CV SRA asset and access information.

Before you begin

  • Ensure you have SRA System Admin role access.

Procedure

  1. Log in to the Cisco IoT Operations Dashboard as a user with SRA System Admin role.

  2. Choose SRA > System Management.

  3. On the System Management pane, select the network devices whose configuration you want to clear, and then select Clear All Assets and Access Methods from More Actions.

  4. On the confirmation window, click Delete.

The configurations of the selected network devices are cleared.
