Explains OT assets and their importance in IIoT network.

An OT asset is a physical device such as a PLC, sensor, or industrial controller that directly monitors or manipulates physical industrial processes.

  • Represents critical physical endpoints within an IIoT network.

  • Requires robust, authenticated access controls to ensure operational integrity and security.

Add OT assets to a network device

Use this procedure to manually add an asset for a device.

This task lets you add an OT asset to a network device.

For routers with multiple VRFs, choose the VRF through which the router can reach the asset. The VRF choices are available after the network device has connected to the cloud.

Procedure

  1. From the System Management page, choose a Network Device.

  2. From the Network Device Details page, click Add Asset.

  3. On the Add Asset page, choose one of the following options:

    • Select from list (Recommended)

    • Manual entry

  4. After you choose the option, enter the asset name, IP address or host name, and description. If the router has multiple VRFs, select the VRF through which it can reach the asset. Click Add.

    Note

To access this asset using the CV SRA Plus protocol, you must enter the IP address only. Entering the hostname will cause the CV SRA Plus connection to fail.

For a given router, an IP address and VRF combination must be unique. You can use the same IP address in a different VRF.

The asset is associated with the network device.

Connect a network device to a remote asset

Establish secure remote connectivity between a selected network device and a remote asset through the CV SRA platform.

Perform this task when you need to enable managed remote access for a network device by defining connection and access method parameters. The configuration is typically required for secure administration or integration with third-party assets.

Before you begin

  • Ensure you are logged in as an SRA System Admin user.

  • Confirm that required access control groups exist.

Procedure

  1. Click Quick Wizard in the CV SRA platform.

  2. Click Connect to Asset.

  3. Select the desired network device from the available list.

  4. Specify the asset details:

  5. Choose an access method for the asset and provide the necessary connection information.

  6. (Optional) Assign the device to an access control group.

  7. Test the configuration to verify connectivity to the asset.

  8. Launch a remote session to confirm successful connection.

  9. Complete the configuration process.

The remote asset is now configured with the specified access method. The newly added network device is listed in the network device table under System Management.

What to do next

(Optional) Review the newly-configured device entry to verify correct connectivity and group assignment.
