This topic describes supported upgrade paths for Cisco Optical Site Manager, including supported source and destination release combinations for NCS 1000 host platforms.

For upgrades from a Cisco IOS XR release earlier than Release 25.3.1 to Release 25.3.1 or later, include the required bridge SMU in the Golden ISO (GISO). This is a mandatory prerequisite for Cisco Optical Site Manager upgrades on Cisco NCS 1010 and Cisco NCS 1014 host platforms. If activation is started from Cisco Optical Site Manager or Cisco Optical Network Controller with a GISO that does not include the required bridge SMU, Cisco IOS XR receives the activation request and fails the activation during compatibility validation. In this scenario, Cisco Optical Site Manager might continue to show the activation status as Activating instead of Failed.
If Cisco Optical Site Manager shows Activating for an unusually long time, log in to the Cisco IOS XR CLI on the device and use the show install request command to check the actual install status. Correct the issue reported by Cisco IOS XR, add the required bridge SMU to the GISO, and start activation again.
