Password Rules on RV220W and RV120W
The password rules can be changed in order to force the user to make a more secure password for the device. The device enforces minimum password complexity requirement for password changes. The user can choose to enforce these rules or not.
This document describes how to configure the Password Rules page.

Step 1. Log in to the web configuration utility and choose Administration > Password Rules. The Password Rules page opens:
Step 2. Check the Password Rules Enforcement check box to enable Individual Password Rule Enforcement settings.
Step 3. Enter the minimal password length in the Minimal Password Length field. The default length is 8 characters.
Step 4. Enter the minimal number of character class in the Minimal Number of Character Classes field. This means user has to use at least that many types of character classes (for example: uppercase letters, lowercase letters, numerical characters, or special characters).
Step 5. Check the The new password must be different than the current one check box to force the user to choose a different password.
Step 6. Check the Password Aging check box to enable password aging, which means if the password is not changed within a specific amount of time (in days) it expires and needs to be reset.
Step 7. Enter the password aging time (in days) in the Password Aging Time field. The default time is 180 days.
