Cisco Spaces: Smart Workspaces App

The Cisco Spaces: Cisco Smart Workspaces app offers applications like Space Manager and Space Experience for your wired, wireless, and WebEx deployments that are used to make your workspace hybrid-work-ready. These applications enhance and provide seamless digital experiences for your employees and visitors through metrics such as occupancy, noise & air quality, and meeting room capacity & availability.

The Space Manager app allows you to have a view of real-time occupancy and environment updates like humidity, air quality, and noise levels across buildings, floors, and meeting rooms. Meanwhile, the Space Experience app enables signage management through Cisco Spaces.

Working with Cisco Spaces: Smart Workspaces

To support Cisco Smart Workspaces solution, two new apps are available:

  • Space Manager: Use this app to configure various devices, sensors, and workspaces and to provide access to real-time occupancy data and environment telemetry (heat map, indoor air quality, temperature, humidity, and noise levels) rendered on rich maps for a specific building, floor, or meeting room.

    • In the Devices section, you can view the configured devices and their telemetry details on rich maps.

    • The Manage Rooms section displays the configured meeting room or workspace and allows you to view, add, or remove devices and sensors to and from the selected workspace.

  • Space Experience: Use this app to perform these:

    • Create and manage signage for Cisco Smart Workspaces

    • Onboard new signage for a Cisco Webex device or a non-Webex device.

    • Configure the telemetry parameters and publish the signage.

The configuration updates are auto-notified to the corresponding signage devices.

Signage 2.0

Signage 2.0 provides a touch-first kiosk and signage experience with simplified on-screen navigation and improved touch responsiveness.

Floor Occupancy and Environmental widgets appear at the top of the screen with a dial-based design. A sensor widget is displayed only when the corresponding sensor data is available. If Cisco Spaces does not receive data from a sensor, the related widget is hidden.

By default, the kiosk displays the Spaces Explorer branding. To use your organization’s logo, choose Space Experience > Settings and upload the logo. The uploaded logo appears in the upper-left corner of the kiosk application.

Preview signage

When you create or edit signage in Space Experience, use Preview to review the configuration before publishing it. The preview displays the signage type, building and floor, latitude and longitude, configured widgets, map-view settings, and Where Am I updates.

Verify the preview and correct any configuration differences before you publish the signage.

Room occupancy source

Signage determines whether a meeting room is occupied from the Webex Room In Use attribute. This replaces occupancy detection based on a combination of People Presence and People Count Out Of Call and provides a more reliable indication of current room use.

Use a Digital Map default view in signage

New Space Experience signage configurations use the default map view configured for the selected Digital Map. The inherited view includes the map position, pitch, bearing, and zoom.

To configure the default, choose Setup > Locations and Maps > Digital Maps. Locate the required building or floor, open the More Options menu, choose Set default map view, adjust the view, and click Save.

Override the Default Map View is disabled by default for new signage. Enable it only when a signage requires a different map position, pitch, bearing, or zoom.

Existing signage continues to use its saved map view. To make an existing signage inherit the Digital Map default, edit the signage and disable Override the Default Map View.
