Management over Wireless

Management over wireless

Management over wireless is a feature that allows you to monitor and configure the controller using client devices connected over Wi-Fi. This feature is helpful in situations where a wired connection is not available. The feature:

  • allows you to monitor and configure the controller using client devices connected through Wi-Fi,

  • is helpful in situations where a wired connection is not available, and

  • is usually disabled by default for security reasons.

Attention

By default, the feature is disabled for security reasons. If disabled, the controller blocks any management access attempts from its connected wireless clients. This helps prevent someone connected over Wi-Fi from directly managing the controller they are using.

However, keeping this feature disabled does not block management access from wireless clients that are connected to other controllers in the network. To enforce stricter access control across all wireless clients, use Access Control Lists (ACLs) or similar mechanisms, based on VLANs or IP ranges.

Restrictions on management over wireless

  • The feature does not work for Embedded Wireless Controller (EWC).

  • By default, this feature is disabled for security reasons.
