Cisco 12000 E4/E4+ engine based line cards may generate the following error strings:
%RX192-3-HINTR: status = 0x4000000, mask = 0x7EFFFF FF - Parity error on rx_pbc_mem %SYS-2-INTSCHED: 'sleep for' at level 7 -Process= "CEF IPC Background", ipl= 7, pid= 52
Following these errors Cisco Express Forwarding (CEF) on the E4/E4+ line card may become disabled, although the associated port stays in an "Up/Up" state.
This symptom is observed on a Cisco 12000 series router with engine 4/4+ line cards that runs a Cisco IOS® Software Release at or earlier than 12.0(21)S5, 12.0(22)S3, or 12.0(23)S1.
Note: This is a software problem that does not require hardware replacement.
Following errors, Cisco Express Forwarding (CEF) on a E4 or E4+ engine based line card becomes disabled, even though the associated port stays in an "Up/Up" state.
Work around:
Enter the CmdBold microcode reload noCmdBold CmdArgslot-number noCmdArg global configuration command on the E4+ OC-192 line card.
Solution:
The following IOS releases and higher have fixed this problem:
12.0(21)ST6
12.0(21)S6
12.0(22)S4
12.0(23)S2
12.0(24)S1
