Product affected shipped July 17 to July 20. Affected serial numbers are listed below.
It was discovered in manufacturing test that the I/O FE board does not pass the ping test on the MII port at the external Final System Test (FST). This failure only occurs on the 73-2956-05 rev. A1 version of this 800-level assembly. The failure was due to a new fab spin of the I/O controller board and was found not to work with some transceivers. When encountered, the failure was 100% on the MII port.
283 I/O FE controllers affected by this problem shipped between July 17 to July 20. The list of serial numbers affected are listed below.
Only the MII port is affected.
Using the sh diag command will provide the serial number of the board as well as the part number and revision of the I/O FE controller board.
Note: Although the part number and revision may be 73-2956-05 rev. A1 version, this does not mean the problem exists with the MII port, you must check the serial number list provided below.

Visual identification of the corrected boards (new fab) will have either:
A deviation sticker labeled as "D99-3461" (obvious rework wire on top side of board). Note: The part number will still be 73-2956-05 rev. A1 on these boards.
Once the ECO is released, new part number will be 73-2956-07 rev. A0 (obvious rework wire on top side of board).
The MII port of the C7200-I/O-FE will not work with some transceivers. The failure will be 100% with those transceivers.
Root cause is related to a trace on the new spin of the fab. The fab was spun for improved manufacturing robustness. The new fab started to ship from the supplier to Cisco on July 5th. Based on the information provided below, 283 boards have shipped to the field.
The problem has been corrected by adding a wire to the board. The wire-add will be implemented by ECO.
The affected c7200-I/O-FE controller serial numbers have been identified and are listed below. RMA the part if it matches a serial number in the list.
