New Cisco IOS Software Release 12.1(11)AX
for Cisco Catalyst 3750 and 2970 Series Switches

Overview

Cisco is pleased to announce Cisco IOS^® Software for the Cisco Catalyst^® 3750 and 2970 Series Intelligent Ethernet switches. These new products further Cisco's leadership in providing secure, reliable, and easily managed LAN switching solutions.

This Product Bulletin describes the content and delivery information concerning Cisco IOS Software release 12.1(11)AX. For more information about the Cisco IOS Software release process, please see Product Bulletin #537.

12.1(11)AX is an Early Deployment (ED) release, based off of Cisco IOS 12.1(11)EA1. Cisco IOS release 12.1(11)AX is the first Cisco IOS release that provides support for the Cisco Catalyst 3750 and 2970 Series Intelligent Ethernet Switches. This release contains all 12.1E features delivered up to and including 12.1(11)EA1.

The features delivered with this ED release will be incorporated into Cisco IOS 12.1(14)EA1 and subsequent Cisco Catalyst IOS releases. It is important to note that there are no planned maintenance releases for this ED release. In addition, please note the migration path to the latest EA1 release. Customers should prepare to upgrade following the migration path outlined at the end of this document.

The 12.1(11)AX software release should not be used for the Cisco Catalyst 3550, 2950, or 2955 Series Intelligent Ethernet switches.

This release also supports Cisco's embedded, Web-based, network management software, Cluster Management Suite (CMS).

Features in Cisco IOS Release 12.1(11)AX

Cisco IOS release 12.1(11)AX is the first IOS release that provides support for the Cisco Catalyst 3750 and 2970 Series Intelligent Ethernet Switches. This release contains all features delivered in 12.1E, up to and including those in 12.1(11)EA1. Select features are highlighted in Table 1.
