Cisco IOS Software Release 12.2(13)ZP Supporting the Cisco Catalyst 6500 Series and Cisco 7600 Series Communication Media Module and VoIP Gateway Features
Introduction
This product bulletin describes the content and delivery information about Cisco IOS® Software Release 12.2(13)ZP. This release focuses on the Cisco® Catalyst® 6500 Series and Cisco 7600 Series platform. Cisco IOS 12.2(13)ZP, an early deployment release parented to 12.2(13)T, supports the Cisco Catalyst 6500 and Cisco 7600 Communication Media Module (CMM) line card. This release introduces Cisco IOS support for two new port adapters: a conferencing and transcoding port adapter and a 24-port foreign-exchange-station (FXS) port adapter. The new Cisco IOS Software release supports all of the currently supported features in 12.2(13)ZC and earlier releases.

Conferencing and Transcoding Port Adapter
The Cisco CMM line card can provide conferencing and transcoding services using the WS-SVC-CMM-ACT digital-signal-processor (DSP) port adapter(s). Conference resources can now be resourced in distributed locations, including the remote branches, within the network. The conferencing and transcoding port adapter enables temporary [OR unplanned OR special] conferencing and transcoding services with Cisco CallManager. Through the transcoding capabilities, the new conferencing and transcoding port adapter allows endpoints supporting differing codecs to communicate and can also help minimize the bandwidth impact of calls across the WAN by transcoding G.711 calls to compressed codecs such as G.729 or G.723. Combining the features of conferencing and transcoding allows multiple endpoints supporting differing codecs to participate in the same conference session.
Twenty-Four-Port FXS Port Adapter
The Cisco CMM now supports 24-port FXS port adapters for both Media Gateway Control Protocol (MGCP) and H.323. The analog FXS port adapter provides enterprises with the ability to connect traditional analog telephony equipment such as phones, speaker phones, and faxes to Cisco Catalyst 6500 switches. Providing traditional analog devices with access simplifies migration to a fully converged multiservice network while extending the useful life and thus maximizing the return on investment (ROI) of these devices.
