Overview
This Product Bulletin describes the content and delivery information concerning Cisco IOS Software release 12.1(13)EA1. For more information about the Cisco IOS Software release process, please see Product Bulletin 537.
With Cisco IOS release 12.1(13)EA1, the Catalyst 3550, 2950 and 2955 Series increase availability with Per VLAN Rapid Spanning Tree Plus (PVRST+). PVRST+ allows rapid reconvergence of Spanning Tree on a Per-VLAN basis. Support for the Cisco Port Security MIB enhances security management.
The Catalyst 2955 and 2950 Enhance Image (EI) Software receives support for Switch Port Analyzer (SPAN) for Intrusion Detection System (IDS). This feature enables bi-directional traffic on the destination SPAN port, which is necessary if IDS devices are to send Transmission Control Protocol (TCP) resets, or to control devices like distributed sniffers.
The Catalyst 3550 will now provide limited support for Policy Based Routing (PBR), while Catalyst 3550 Metro Ethernet users can benefit from Layer 2 Tunneling Protocol enhancements, which allow configuration of drop and shut-down thresholds based on ingress packet rates.
The embedded, Web-based, network management software in the Catalyst 3550, 2950 and 2955 Series, the Cisco Cluster Management Suite (CMS) Software, has enhancements including the new Inter-VLAN Routing Wizard, and improved windowing layout for computers with small screens.
