This Product Bulletin describes the content and delivery information concerning Cisco IOS(TM) software release 12.1(5)YF. It should be used in conjunction with Product Bulletin titled, Cisco IOS Software Release 12.1T. 12.1(5)YF is a short lived Early Deployment (ED) release parented to 12.1(5)T and supporting Cisco Catalyst 4000 Gateway. This release contains all new features delivered in 12.1 up to 12.1(5)T.
The platform and features delivered with this ED release will be immediately incorporated into Cisco IOS 12.1(5)T and subsequent Cisco IOS 12.1(5)T releases. It is important to note that there are no planned maintenance releases for this ED release. In addition, please note the migration path to the latest T release. The Catalyst 4000 8-Port RJ21 FXS module for the Access Gateway Module is a high density analog phone and FAX relay interface. By providing service to analog phones and FAX machines, the eight Foreign Exchange Station (FXS) ports emulate a PSTN central office (CO) or Private Branch Exchange (PBX).
The Catalyst 4000 Encryption Service Adapter (ESA) is a high-performance data encryption module that implements data encryption and data authentication algorithms. The ESA attaches to the Peripheral Component Interconnect (PCI) connector on the Catalyst 4000 Access Gateway Module. The ESA includes a public key math processor and a hardware random number generator. These features support public key cryptography for key generation, exchange, and authentication. The ESA can encrypt and authenticate two full duplex T1 or two E1 communication links. Each data line can be channelized with a separate encryption context. The ESA provides IPSec Data Encryption Standard (DES) 56-bit and 3DES 168-bit encryption.
