Announcing Cisco Ethernet Subscriber Solution Engine 1.1
Cisco Systems announces the availability of the Cisco Ethernet Subscriber Solution Engine (ESSE) with updates to its management software. ESSE enables service providers delivering optical Ethernet to centrally monitor, configure, and troubleshoot remote deployments of Cisco Optical Network TerminatorONT 1000 Gigabit Ethernet Series. ESSE provides an aggregated view of each optical-to-copper demarcation point, allowing administrators to determine operational status or remotely troubleshoot issues of an ONT. The Cisco Ethernet Subscriber Solution Engine can scale to support deployments of up to 2000 ONTs and allows administrative access to be partitioned between multiple network operators.
ESSE 1.1 includes the following:
NEWSSL/SSH secured web-based ESSE sessions with access to specific ESSE tools is based on an individual's administrative role, ranging from view-only to full tool access
NEWEasy identification of Cisco ONT 1000 Gigabit Ethernet Series devices using ten user-defined, searchable properties
NEWUpper-layer data integration with Network Management System/Operations Support System (NMS/OSS) through sharing of Syslog messages and SNMP traps
- A centralized view of remotely deployed ONT optical-to-copper terminators, including where they are located, their flow control settings, and Layer 1 and 2 network service activities
- Ability to remotely troubleshoot and diagnose ONT and network connectivity problems
