Cisco ASR 9000 Series Routers, IOS XR Release 25.3.1
Cisco IOS XR Release 25.3.1 is a new feature and hardware release for Cisco ASR 9000 Series routers. Key highlights include GRE and pseudowire scale enhancements with GRE lite mode, the introduction of the QDD optical line system pluggable amplifier, EVPN anycast multihoming with static label support, and more granular NetFlow visibility with BGP community and AS path export. The release also adds YANG-Push telemetry, advanced SRv6 steering and segment routing APIs, improved SSH session controls, increased lawful interception rates, scalable subscriber QoS, and nV system support for 400GE line cards, enabling greater scalability, security, and operational efficiency.

You can prevent session limit exhaustion and maintain optimal system performance by automatically disconnecting SSH connections with no active channels. The feature introduces a configurable timeout for unused SSH connections, ensuring stale sessions do not occupy resources on your routers. The router monitors each SSH connection and terminates it when all channels remain closed and SSH clients do not create new channels within the configured timeout period. |

You can improve resource efficiency and minimize potential security risks by automatically closing idle SSH channels on the routers after a specific period of inactivity. The feature introduces a configurable timeout for SSH channels which ensures that unused channels do not persist while the parent SSH connection remains active. The router monitors each SSH channel and closes any channel where no data is sent or received within the configured timeout period. |

There is no new hardware introduced in this release.
● The outgoing-interface leaf of Cisco-IOS-XR-mpls-forwarding-oper has been updated to include the full outgoing interface name instead of the shortened interface name.
● Call Home transport mode deprecated: Starting with Release 25.3.1, IOS XR software no longer supports Call Home transport mode for Licensing. Please configure CSLU or Smart Transport to ensure seamless operation of the licensing solution.
There are no open caveats in this release.
There are no known issues in this release.

The available memory for Cisco ASR 9000 Series Aggregation Services Router running Cisco IOS XR Software Release consist of the following:
● 32 GB memory on the A99-RP-F
● 24 GB memory on the RP3 transport optimised (TR) variant and 40 GB memory on the RP3 service edge (SE) variant
● 24 GB memory on the RP3-X transport optimized (TR) variant and 48 GB memory on the RP3-X service edge (SE) variant
● 24 GB memory on the RSP5 transport optimized (TR) variant and 40 GB memory on the RSP5 service edge (SE) variant
● 24 GB memory on the RSP5-X transport optimized (TR) variant and 48 GB memory on the RSP5-X service edge (SE) variant
● 2 GB compact flash on route switch processors (RSPs)
● 8 GB memory on the line cards (LCs) running Cisco IOS XR 64-bit image
Caution: If you remove the media in which the software image or configuration is stored, the router may become unstable and fail.
