Introduction
This document explains how to enable Openfire debug traces for Cisco Finesse.
Prerequisites
Requirements
Cisco recommends that you have knowledge of Cisco Finesse and Voice Operating System (VOS) CLI command prompt.
Components Used
The information in this document is based on Cisco Finesse Version 9.1(1).
The information in this document was created from the devices in a specific lab environment. All of the devices used in this document started with a cleared (default) configuration. If your network is live, make sure that you understand the potential impact of any command.
Enable Openfire Logging
Note: If you enable Openfire logging, your performance on the Finesse server will be impacted. You should disable logging once you have collected the necessary logs to optimize performance.
Note: You must restart the Cisco Finesse Notification Service and the Cisco Tomcat service on the Finesse server after you enable logging. Logging impacts service. When you restart these services, agents failover to the other Finesse server.
Note: Release 9.1(1) of Cisco Finesse offers new capabilities. With previous versions, before you can enable or disable the Cisco Finesse Notification Service logging, you are required to stop the Cisco Notification Service and the Cisco Tomcat service. With Cisco Finesse Release 9.1(1) ES3, this requirement is removed. In order to enable or disable Cisco Finesse Notification Service logging, you must first ensure that the Cisco Finesse Notification Service is running. If the service is not running, the command that is used in order to enable or disable logging fails.
- In order to log in to the Primary Finesse Server, you must enter the username administrator in all lowercase letters. See Cisco Bug ID CSCue46832 for a workaround if the administrator user was not previously created.

- In order to check the current status of logging, enter the utils finesse notification logging status command.

- In order to stop the Cisco Finesse Notification Service and the Cisco Tomcat service, enter the utils service stop command.

- In order to enable logging, enter the utils finesse notification logging enable command.

- In order to start the Cisco Finesse Notification Service and the Cisco Tomcat service, enter the utils service start command. It is essential to start the services in this order.

- In order to verify the status of logging, enter the utils finesse notification logging status command.

- Repeat steps 1 through 6 on the Secondary Server. After you have collected the necessary logs, you must disable Openfire logging.
- Disable Openfire logging. Log in to the Primary Finesse Server as outlined in Step 1.
- In order to stop Cisco Finesse Notification Service and Cisco Tomcat service as outlined in Step 3, enter the utils service stop command.
- In order to disable logging, enter the utils finesse notification service logging disable command.

- In order to start Cisco Finesse Notification Service and Cisco Tomcat service as outlined in Step 5, enter the utils service start command. Remember to start the Cisco Finesse Notification Service first.
- In order to ensure that logging is disabled, enter the utils finesse notification logging status command.

- IMPORTANT: Repeat Steps 8 through 12 to disable Openfire logging on the Finesse Secondary Server.
