After upgrading Splunk to a newer version, the Home page fails to load when users navigate to:
https://stack_name.splunkcloud.com/en-US/app/launcher/home
Instead of loading the expected Home page content, the page displays a blank white or black screen. This issue interrupts normal user workflow, as users are automatically redirected to the Home page upon login.
Symptoms:
It has been identified that other pages, such as the Search & Reporting URL, respond correctly when typed manually into the browser, confirming that the issue is isolated to the Home page only and that Splunk Cloud is up and running:
https://stack_name.splunkcloud.com/en-US/app/search/search
The incident occurred after a recent upgrade to the Splunk Cloud version.
The issue might be caused by a file mismatch between the local and default versions of the home.xml file:
etc/apps/launcher/local/data/ui/views/home.xml
vs
etc/apps/launcher/default/data/ui/views/home.xml
The /local file overwrites the proper file under /default, resulting in the Home page failing to load correctly
To resolve this issue, a case must be opened with Splunk Support describing the behavior and referencing this article. The Support team will review whether the stack is experiencing this mismatch and will take the necessary actions from their end to resolve it.
