Splunk_TA_snow Input Configuration Page is stuck loading after upgrade

Description

After upgrading Splunk and Splunk_TA_snow addon, the Splunk_TA_snow Input Configuration Page is stuck loading preventing re-configuring of the addon and inputs.
 

Investigation

The following errors are seen in the splunk_ta_snow_main.log:

Resolution

This is caused by old files being left behind within the etc/apps/Splunk_TA_snow/bin/ directory after upgrading.

To fix it perform the following steps :

1. Stop splunk (/opt/splunk/bin/splunk stop)
2. Make a backup of the existing Splunk_TA_snow bin directory :
 

$ cd /opt/splunk/etc/apps/Splunk_TA_snow
$ mv bin bin.bak

3. Copy the contents of the Splunk_TA_snow/bin directory from the same version of the Splunk_TA_snow app downloaded from Splunkbase :

$ tar xvf splunk-add-on-for-servicenow_641.tgz -C /tmp
$ cp -r /tmp/Splunk_TA_snow/bin /opt/splunk/etc/apps/Splunk_TA_snow

4. Start Splunk (/opt/splunk/bin/splunk start)

5. Check that the Splunk_TA_snow Input Configuration Page is now working.
