Splunk_TA_Salesforce - Configuration page keep loading

Applicability

Splunk_TA_Salesforce version is 4.1.0 Splunk Enterprise version is 8.1.5

Description

The Splunk Add-on for Salesforce stopped ingesting the event data from the Salesforce side and the configuration page keeps loading endlessly.
This results in not being able to access the "Configuration" tab of the "Splunk Add-on for Salesforce" for performing any kind of changes whereas able to access the "Inputs" tab of the add-on only.
This is not a fresh installation, It was working before as expected but suddenly stopped working.

Investigation

1. This Error in splunkd.log multiple times :

SPL : index=_internal "Splunk_TA_salesforce*" log_level=ERROR : 

 ImportError: bad magic number in 'Splunk_TA_salesforce_rh_account_validation': b'\x03\xf3\r\n'

2. After comparing the add-on package and the Splunkbase package, found the file Splunk_TA_salesforce_rh_account_validation.py is renamed to Splunk_TA_salesforce_rh_account_validation.py.bak (below screenshot for reference) which is causing the errors and results in the Configuration page loading endlessly.

Resolution

 

1. Reinstate the Splunk_TA_salesforce_rh_account_validation.py file

2. Remove the .pyc(pycache) files from the below path :
/opt/splunk/etc/apps/Splunk_TA_salesforce/bin/__pycache__/

3. Refresh the Configuration Page.
