Cisco ASR 9000 Series 5th Generation 400 Gigabit Ethernet Enhanced Multi-Rate line cards with device_revision 2 requires Cisco IOS XR Software Release 25.2.2 or later to function properly.
The latest line cards are manufactured with a new, qualified component by Cisco Engineering during the manufacturing process.
Note: There are no feature or functionality differences between line cards that are manufactured with new and old components.
When line cards with device_revision 2 are installed and powered ON in a chassis that is running Cisco IOS XR Software Release 25.1.1 or Release 25.2.1, line card interfaces will not initialize, and the following syslogs are observed:
LC/0/5/CPU0: lda_server[119]: QSPI reset of MDX2 Device 0 as it failed to init
LC/0/5/CPU0: lda_server[117]: %PLATFORM-LDA-3-INIT_FAIL : Failed to initialize Linecard device (0xa8449200 - 'FPGALIB' detected the 'fatal' condition 'Code(9)') : lda_server : (PID=4272) : -Traceback= 7f564e8d90eb 7f564e89f22a 7f564e89ee80 55aef8bcafaa 7f564e52f57b 7f564e52f404 55aef8bcab66 7f564e141d63 55aef8bc8f7a
LC/0/5/CPU0: processmgr[51]: %OS-SYSMGR-3-ERROR : lda_server(1) (jid 117) exited, will be respawned with a delay (slow-restart)
LC/0/5/CPU0: processmgr[51]: %OS-SYSMGR-3-ERROR : lda_server(117) (fail count 1) will be respawned in 10 seconds
Solution
Cisco recommends that all customers with ASR 9000 routers using the line cards that are identified in the Products Affected section upgrade to Cisco IOS XR Software Release 25.2.2 or later to ensure continued and proper device functionality.
To verify the device_revision of the line card, log on to the bash prompt of the line card and run the following CLI command:
run ssh lcX_xr -------> (X - slot number) lda_debug client mdx1 get_device_info 0
The following output was collected from an ASR 9000 chassis with an affected line card that contains the old component and is running Cisco IOS XR Software Release 25.1.1:
RP/0/RSP0/CPU0:ios#run ssh lc1_xr
[xr-vm_node0_1_CPU0:~]$lda_debug client mdx1 get_device_info 0

[xr-vm_node0_1_CPU0:~]$
Note: The lda_debug CLI command will NOT work for line cards with device_revision 2 on Cisco IOS XR Software Release 25.1.1. Refer to the output shown in the Problem Symptom section.
