Cisco announces the End of Support for H.323 in Cisco Expressway.
Cisco Expressway has provided H.323 support since the 2010 acquisition of Tandberg. Now that most customers use Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) for call routing, there is minimal demand for H.323 functionality.
In acknowledgement of this reduced demand, the Cisco Expressway X15.5.3 release will be the last to provide support for H.323 features. No support for H.323 features will be provided in subsequent releases.
No patches, security fixes or maintenance releases will be provided for H.323 features on 15.5.3 and lower.
Customers are encouraged to migrate to use SIP using the extensive feature set offered in Cisco Expressway.
