If you are deploying two or more nodes in your IM and Presence installation, use the multi-node feature in IM and Presence and ensure that your hardware is compatible with this feature. This is necessary for both a fresh install and upgrade of IM and Presence.

Number of Microsoft Office Communicator Users Supported For Remote Call Control
The Cisco Unified Communications Manager server that you use determines how many users are supported when interoperating with Microsoft Office Communicator for Remote Call Control. Remote Call Control is a unique deployment mode for IM and Presence which enables Microsoft Office Communicator Users to control Cisco IP Telephony endpoints. This is a separate and independent deployment mode from standard IM and Presence functions. The IM and Presence server is required only as the gateway and does not limit user capacity. Table 5 identifies the number of Microsoft Office Communicator users that are supported per server and per cluster.
Note
Capacity numbers for Microsoft Office Communicator interoperability are defined based on Cisco Unified Communications Manager, not IM and Presence; Cisco Unified Communications Server is required to provide CSTA Gateway.
