Cisco Collaboration Solutions

Design guidance for Cisco Collaboration solutions consists of three levels of documentation, as illustrated in Figure 1.

These design overview guides support sales processes, and they are the place to start when designing a Cisco Collaboration solution deployment. These overviews help customers and sales teams to perform the following tasks:

Select the appropriate (preferred) system architecture based on an organization’s business requirements.

Understand the products that are used within the preferred architecture.

Obtain general design best practices.

These guides provide detailed information about deploying components within the Cisco Preferred Architectures. These guides support planning, design, and implementation of Cisco Collaboration solutions.

These guides provide detailed design recommendations and options for deploying Cisco Collaboration solutions. The SRND should be referenced when design requirements are outside the scope of the Cisco Preferred Architectures.

Cisco Preferred Architecture (PA) Overview Guides

Cisco Preferred Architecture overviews provide customers and sales teams with prescribed architectures for Cisco Collaboration solutions that are specifically tailored for two main market segments:

  • Midmarket — Small and medium businesses
  • Enterprise — Large businesses

Midmarket Preferred Architecture Overviews

The following documents describe the Cisco Collaboration preferred architectures for small and medium (midmarket) businesses.

Enterprise Preferred Architecture Overviews

The following documents describe the Cisco Collaboration preferred architecture for large (enterprise) businesses.

The following resources help simplify and automate the solution design and deployment process. They are available to Cisco employees and partners only, and a valid login account is required to access them.

The Collaboration Virtual Machine Placement Tool (VMPT) helps determine how to place the virtual machines together on the Cisco Unified Computing System (UCS) servers, which will ultimately determine how many UCS servers are required for the solution.

The Cisco Collaboration Sizing Tool assists system engineers with hardware sizing of large or complex Cisco Collaboration System solutions including call control, contact center, voice messaging, conferencing and collaboration, presence, and voice gateways. The Sizing Tool estimates resource utilization and hardware requirements for the solution.

RDM is a wizard-driven customization tool to reduce the time and complexity of deploying Cisco Unified Communications Manager and Cisco Unity Connection. It provides an easy to follow procedure to install, configure, provision, and deploy site and user profiles.

The documents listed below provide design guidance for deploying Cisco Video Solutions in an IP network.
