CDA Skills

.

Cisco have launched a skills manifesto which is focused on digital opportunities for everyone. By 2020, we are committing to help improve the digital skills of a quarter of a million more people in the UK. Two initiatives driving the manifesto include: Libraries – centre of digital inclusion and Computing for Schools -as per the UK National Computing Curriculum.

Libraries - Make your community digital

We believe in digital opportunities for everyone. For individuals, communities and organisations across the UK.

Cisco are teaming up with Libraries to make available free, self paced online courses which are part of the Networking Academy Portfolio. These courses are available to all Libraries and will provide citizens access to a range of topics, starting with the basics of getting online to the Internet of Things (IoT) and Cybersecurity. Courses require minimal intervention from Library staff. Enrolment is simple, it takes just 5 easy steps.

In line with the UK’s Digital skills strategy we see Libraries as the heart of the community.

  • With almost 90% of all jobs already requiring some level of digital skills, we are committed to improving digital inclusion, making Libraries the ‘go-to’ provider of digital access, training and support.
  • According to a study released by the British Chambers of Commerce ‘Three in four UK businesses have reported a digital skills shortage among their employees’. Our courses give citizens the confidence to access online resources proficiently as well as a first step into the IT Profession for anyone seeking a change.

Computing for Schools

Computing for Schools – Computing skills programme aligned to the National Computing Curriculum.

The UK Government has recently introduced a new Computing curriculum for schools. Computing At School (CAS) has developed their own progressions pathway which is made up of seven topical strands and aligned to the National Computing curriculum. We have partnered with a team of teachers and University academics to deliver on the Networking and Communication strand.

As tech leaders, with over 20 years experience running Cisco Networking Academy, we understands first hand the networking skills the next generation will need to succeed. Coupled with our insight and expertise from leaders in the field we have prepared a course to make sure teachers are better equipped to deliver the curriculum to their classes.
