Overview of Cisco UCS Server Diagnostic Utility

This chapter includes the following sections:

Introduction

The Cisco UCS Server Diagnostics Utility (Cisco UCS SDU) allows the user to perform interactive offline diagnostics on various server components to determine the health status for the Cisco UCS B-Series, C-Series, S-Series, and X-Series servers. If a diagnostic test identifies that a component has any issue, the Cisco UCS SDU also provides recommended action items as resolutions that can be followed to improve the health of the component.

Hardware Requirements

The following are the minimum hardware requirements for Cisco UCS SDU:

  • CD-ROM drive—A USB CD/DVD-ROM drive is required to be able to boot and run the Cisco UCS SDU. You can also use the virtual media option in the CIMC KVM to boot the Cisco UCS SDU.

  • Mouse—Some functions require a standard mouse (PS/2 or USB) for navigation.

  • RAM—A minimum of 4 GB RAM is required. If the available RAM is less than the minimum recommended value, the diagnostics utility may not function as expected.
