After the Cisco HUU boots up, the End User License Agreement screen is displayed. Click Accept to agree to the license.

Cisco HUU Graphical User Interface

This section provides a brief introduction to the various elements of the Cisco HUU GUI.


Note

Components tab

Lists all the server components for upgrade or downgrade. You can update the firmware for all components or specific components on this list.

Note

 

If you choose to update the firmware for specific components, you must update the Cisco IMC, CMC and BIOS to the same version.

Cisco HUU Version

Displays the current Cisco HUU version.

Storage Devices tab

Lists all the external storage drives (HDDs) available on the server. You can choose to upgrade or downgrade the firmware for all or specific storage drives available on the server.

Important

 

Cisco recommends you to take a backup before upgrading or downgrading the firmware. Cisco is not responsible for any data loss due to firmware upgrade or downgrade.

Note

 

The Storage Devices tab does not appear if there are no supported storage drives on the server.

Server Info

Shows the name of the server.

Persistent Memory tab

Lists all the external persistent memories available on the server. You can choose to upgrade or downgrade the firmware for all or specific persistent memories.

Important

 

Cisco recommends you to take a backup before upgrading or downgrading the firmware. Cisco is not responsible for any data loss due to firmware upgrade or downgrade.

Note

 

The Persistent Memory tab does not appear if there are no persistent DIMMs on the server.

Table Settings options

Provides a drop-down list that you can use to set the number of components that must be listed per page. You can also use the forward and backward buttons to navigate through the table.

More Actions drop-down list

The More Actions drop-down list appears when you select the Advanced Mode toggle button.

The drop-down list shows the following options:

  • Update—Allows you to update firmware for all or selected components.

  • Activate—Allows you to activate firmware for all or selected components.

Upgrade Status indicator

Shows numbers in different color codes, which indicate how many update tasks are running, passed, failed, and cancelled.

  • Blue—Number of tasks running

  • Green—Number of tasks passed

  • Red—Number of tasks failed

  • Yellow—Number of tasks cancelled

When clicked, the task details can be viewed in the Task Summary page.

Cisco HUU Help icon

Displays the following options:

  • About—Displays a brief description about the Cisco HUU along with the Cisco HUU version.

  • Meet HUU—Opens the Welcome screen of Cisco HUU. You can know about the functionalities of different components of Cisco HUU GUI by clicking Let's Go and proceeding with the Next button.

User Preferences icon

Launches the User Preferences dialog box. You can select Light or Dark theme.

Note

 

Selecting a theme overrides the automatic day/night switch.

Power Cycle icon

Launches the Power Cycle dialog box. You can use this option to reboot the server. You can also reboot the server using the power cycle option in the KVM console.

Note

 

Server may power cycle multiple times to activate the firmware. Do not interrupt the power cycle process. Once the power cycle is completed, the boot menu is displayed.

Update and Activate button

When the Advanced Mode toggle button is OFF:

  • Allows you to update and activate firmware for all components with a single click.

When the Advanced Mode toggle button is ON:

  • Allows you to update and activate firmware for all or selected components with a single click.

Advanced Mode toggle button

When this is selected, the More Actions drop-down list and a check box for each component/drive/persistent memory appear.

Allows you to select a check box for the required component/drive/persistent memories that must be updated and activated.

Note

 

If you do not select any component/drive/persistent memory, you can click the Update and Activate button to update and activate all the components/drives/persistent memories together.

Table Settings icon

Allows you to edit the table view to see only the required items.

The selected items are displayed as columns.

The following fields are available in the Components tab:

  • Name

  • Product ID

  • Vendor

  • Slot

  • Running Version

  • Package Version

  • Status

The following fields are available in the Storage Devices tab:

  • Name

  • Product ID

  • Vendor

  • Enclosure

  • Drive Type

  • Model Number

  • Serial Number

  • Controller Name

  • Controller Set

  • Slot

  • Running Version

  • Package Version

  • Status

The following fields are available in the Persistent Memory tab:

  • Name

  • Product ID

  • Vendor

  • Device Locator

  • Bank Label

  • Capacity

  • Part Number

  • Serial Number

  • Slot

  • Running Version

  • Package Version

  • Status

Note

 

The Persistent Memory tab is applicable only for Cisco UCS C-series M5 and M6 servers with Intel processors.

Status column

Displays the firmware update status.

View Details button

Shows the task details and task execution stages. When clicked, you will be redirected to the Task Summary page.

Progress bar

Shows firmware update or activation status in percentage.

Firmware information icon

Shows the firmware information in the following colors:

  • Green—Firmware is up to date

  • Yellow—Updated firmware is available in the package

List of components

A list of components are displayed based on the selection of tab.

Component check box

Allows you to select individual components.

Note

 

The check boxes appear only when the Advanced Mode toggle button is ON.

Cisco HUU Navigation Options

You can navigate to the Cisco HUU menus to perform various tasks.

Hamburger icon

Allows you to expand or collapse the navigation options.

Name column

Displays the name of component.

Slot column

Displays the slot where the component is installed.

Running Version column

Current firmware version running on the component.

Package Version column

Updated version available for upgrade.

Product ID column

Displays the unique ID assigned to the component.

Vendor column

Vendor of the component.
