C9400-LC-12QC is a 12-port fiber optic Ethernet switching module compatible with the following supervisor modules:
-
C9400X-SUP-2
-
C9400X-SUP-2XL
C9400-LC-12QC has 12 ports, named 1 through 12. By default, all 12 ports are configured to support a port speed of 40 Gbps
and use Quad Small Form-Factor Pluggable (QSFP+) transceivers. These ports, 1 through 12 can also operate at 10 Gbps speeds,
with a Cisco QSFP28 to SFP28 Adapter (QSA) Module installed.
Additionally, C9400-LC-12QC also supports 100 Gbps and 25 Gbps port speeds on ports 9 through 12. To support 100 Gbps speeds,
these ports (9-12) use a QSFP28 transceiver. To support 25 Gbps speed, these ports (9-12) use a Cisco QSFP28 to SFP28 Adapter
(QSA) Module.
You can configure the ports 9 through 12 to function as 100 Gbps or 25 Gbps ports using the enable mode 100G command in the interface configuration mode. You can use the no enable mode 100G command in the interface configuration mode to change a port back to the 40 Gbps mode.
When you configure any of the ports 9 through 12 to support 100 Gbps or 25 Gbps port speeds, one port from 5 to 8, belonging
to the same port group, is disabled.
Refer to the following table for port groupings and configurable speeds for C9400-LC-12QC.

To know more about port groups on C9400-LC-12QC, refer to the Cisco Catalyst 9400 Series Line Card Installation Note.
The line card can work in the following modes:
-
Default mode: All 12 ports operate in the default 40G mode.
-
Mixed mode: In the mixed mode, C9400-LC-12QC supports the following port configurations:
-
1x100G/25G + 10x40G/10G
-
2x100G/25G + 8x40G/10G
-
3x100G/25G + 6x40G/10G
-
4x100G/25G + 4x40G/10G

Note
|
Speeds 40 Gbps and 100 Gbps are mutually exclusive for ports 9 to 12. You can enable any one speed on a port, at any given
time. For example, if you enable 100 Gbps speed on port 9, 40 Gbps speed will be disabled for this port.
|
The following example shows how to configure 100 Gbps speed on port 12:
Device> enable
Device# configure terminal
Device (config)# interface Hu7/0/12
Device(config-if)# enable mode 100G
Interface FortyGigabitEthernet7/0/8 will be disabled since 100G mode is enabled on interface HundredGigE7/0/12
