Guest Shell is a secure container that is an embedded Linux environment that allows customers to develop and run Linux and custom Python applications for automated control and management of Cisco switches. It also includes the automated provisioning of systems. This container shell provides a secure environment, decoupled from the host device, in which users can install scripts or software packages and run them. In Cisco IOS XE 17.18.1, this feature was implemented on the following platforms
